Unprecedented automation and resiliency across the metro and core
Ciena’s seventh-generation field-proven control plane has now been extended into the metro, enabling new improvements in cross-domain service deployment velocity, network survivability and cost savings. Ciena has delivered proven economic benefits, and unmatched scalability and reliability for the world’s largest service providers.
Ciena’s intelligent control plane is deployed in large (800+ node) networks with field-measured, unprecedented 99.9999% (six-9s) reliability. In addition, Ciena’s control plane lowers network OPEX by 85% and reduces equipment cost by 60%.
In a distributed control plane, the network is the “database of record” where each node maintains an accurate and timely view of the network topology and available resources. Network updates are automatically reported back to Ciena’s OneControl Unified Management System for proactive monitoring.
Reducing CAPEX and OPEX, automating network operations for increased survivability and accelerated service turn up, and broadening the network operator’s service and application scope are key elements in Ciena’s vision and strategy for transforming the network into a dynamic, intelligent and revenue-generating asset—which we call an Intelligent Infrastructure.
